Overview
Degree Overview
>The Robotics and Intelligent Devices programme focuses on the design, implementation, and use of intelligent physical things including robots, autonomous vehicles, smart sensors, and internet-of-things devices. It is accredited by Engineers Ireland and internationally recognised.
>Blending Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, the programme focuses on adding intelligence to everyday systems and developing robots that can collaborate and interact with humans and our environment. Throughout the programme students have the opportunity to work with multiple robotic and intelligent device platforms in well equipped labs.
>With a problem-based learning approach and substantial projects throughout the programme, students can build a compelling portfolio of projects to show potential employers. In addition to practicing skills in hardware and software analysis and design, experiential learning through projects equips students with key skills in technical and non-technical communication, teamwork, engineering management, and evaluation of impact.
>The programme is ideally suited to students who want to make a difference in areas such as health and wellbeing, assistive living, smart agriculture, smart manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and many others, through robotics and intelligent device based technologies and solutions.
Engineering Scholarship: W.A. Barrett Scholarship in Engineering
The W.A. Barrett Scholarship in Engineering at Maynooth University was established in 2023 through the generosity of Earthridge International and the Barrett family to commemorate the late William Anthony (Tony) Barrett. The scholarship provides €3,000 to eligible first year students taking a Level 8 course that is accredited by Engineers Ireland at Maynooth University. Two scholarships are available for MH304/MH306 Engineering students.
