Overview
The Electronic Engineering degree at Maynooth University is an Internationally recognized degree. Electronic Engineering at Maynooth has developed world-class expertise in the area of mobile communications, biomedical diagnostics and technologies, and the intelligent control of large machines such as Robots. MIEC engineering graduates are in high demand due to their completion of the degree in English and their exceptional qualification standards.
Course structure
Duration: 4 years
Year 1 and 2 : Students complete Foundation Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Digital modules and critical skills modules over the 1st 2 years of the programme weighted at 7.5 ECT. Critical Skills modules offer the students experience working in a team, developing project planning, time management, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills.
Year 3 : Students complete 6 taught modules over semester 1 (5 credits each) and over semester 2 obtain an industrial work experience placement including the skills training ahead of the placement application.
Year 4: 9 taught modules (5 credits each) are completed over semester 1 and 2 and the Final Year Project is taken over the academic year (20 credits ) The project is tagged as ‘Required’, which means that the students must past this module in order to graduate. 5 modules are set as compulsory at the registration stage leaving 2 modules to choose.

After Undergraduation
MIEC Graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering have a broad range of career options due to the versatile nature of the field and the fact that all studies are completed through English. .Graduates are equipped to work in Telecommunications, Control Systems, Software, Financial, Consultancy and Management sectors.
